Woohoo, my first Magpies! ;D Three gorgeous Arab bodies - no pics yet, not until they're done. I can't get over the detail on these guys - the legs alone have more definition than many of my trad Breyers. The ABCs* are pretty excellent too, all of which makes me wonder: Why don't you ever see these guys in the showring? Outside CTF classes, I mean. Is it just the hair? Has anyone tried showing a customized one with the big guys? I'm not a rabid shower or anything, but it bugs me the way the general hobby sees anything non-Breyer, Stone or resin as basically inferior "toy quality"... * - ABC= Anatomy, biomechanics and conformation

They're really quite good, aren't they? And yes, I have a very nice custom with milliput mane and tail who has done quite well (ie: she placed in the top six, lol!) in classes alongside Breyers etc. at a 'serious' model show Glad they got there safely, can't wait to see what you do with them!

Ditto. No offence to any american members on here but I've found it to be mainly a US thing. If you post a photo on an american forum of a customised schleich or something and it shows well they always seem genuinely surprised... I remember showing some of the tack I'd made for one of my Julips on Fallen Leaves and was swiftly told that it was 'fine for play tack but not LSQ' Who cares? I mean really!

that's why I don't go on other model horse forums except for GJF/left the only one I was on, I can't stand snidy narrowminded patronising people who are obsessed with resins and things (a lot of which are actually incredibly ugly and/or deformed and/or in ridiculous poses anyway) and only seem to care about live showing and not about just having models for fun (and treat people who like models for fun like they're some moronic little kids), and also who think they're somehow superior to everyone else because they only like 'realistic' stuff or whatever. and that wasn't even US people in the hobby, I've never even bothered with US forums cos I could imagine how they'd be.

I know what you mean! Still, the one big forum with the reputation for pregnant doginess* seems to be more accepting of the different types of collectors than the supposedly "nice" forums... some are masters of the backhanded compliment. There are few things less encouraging than having your best custom called "cute", provided it isn't a fluffy pony or similar! * - won't name names, not sure forum rules allows talking explicitly about other hobby communities.

The what now? Wow, that's one of the more creative swear filters I' ve seen so far... so much better than the boring asterisks. :lol (Wouldn't "female dogginess" be more correct, though? or how about "female caninity"? )

the pregnant part didn't make a huge amount of sense to me either that's why it took so long to figure it out; female would make more sense
