how did you first find out about magpie models (or dream ponies, if you've collected since then)? i had seen some adverts in horse and pony magazine about twelve or thirteen years ago, but on very little pocket money i couldn't collect anything so i just used to look at the photos and never sent off for the catalogue. by the time i could afford to begin a collection, i'd got hooked on julips and forgot all about having liked the look of magpies too. elli re-introduced me to them years later, i knew her on the julip forum and she used to show us her other brands as well, she has a gorgeous little chestnut welshie which i thought was very sweet. when we went to the nene valley live show i saw magpies in person, and ordered my first one soon after that

haha Georgie - love the siggi! Nownow horses, it's not a competition, you are both lovely in different ways I honestly can't remember how i came across magpies - i had some julip HOTY but seemed to switch to magpies without knowing why. Mum must have found out about them somewhere. I could ask her but she won't remember - it won't have been stored in the 'significant things to remember' part of her brain.

My friend Janice had one, a flaxen chestnut welsh. I was fascinated. A couple of years later when I was 14, I was staying with my Gran in Colchester one school holiday and I was helping out by dusting the living room. On the magazine shelf under the coffee table was a copy of "The Lady'- typical Gran type reading-. In the back pages of the magazine was a small 2x1 inch ad for Dream ponies. I sent off for a catalogue and then had to save up £5 for a postal order to get my first horse, a black arab.

Before Georgie's Julip Forum, I belonged to a Yahoo Group for Julip and Magpie collectors. I already loved Julips, but had never heard of Magpies. So when I saw photos of other people's Magpies, I really liked them. A member of the Yahoo group (I think her name was Miranda) had a black Magpie Hunter for sale, so I bought it and I loved it. Then Manda sent me some, and I loved them, too. And then Jan Adams re-launched Magpie models, so they were once again available. I then started a now rather large collection of new and old OF and custom Magpies. I had no idea it was so large until I had to pack it all up to move!
